Zelensky appoints Bakanov SBU's first deputy chief - decree

KYIV. May 22 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has appointed Ivan Bakanov First Deputy Head of the Security Service of Ukraine - Head of the Main Directorate for Combating Corruption and Organized Crime of the Central Department of the Security Service of Ukraine.

The relevant presidential decree is available for viewing on the Ukrainian presidential website.

According to data from open sources, Ivan Hennadiyovych Bakanov was born in Kryvy Rih in 1974. He is a close friend of Volodymyr Zelensky. He graduated from the Academy of Labor, Social Relations and Tourism in Moscow. He became head of Studio Kvartal 95 on January 25, 2013. Bakanov has led the party Servant of the People since December 2017. He headed Volodymyr Zelensky's campaign team in the 2019 election.

Bakanov is married. His son is a student of the Vadym Hetman Kyiv National Economic University.
