Russia boosts car production 5% in April, truck output flat - Rosstat

MOSCOW. May 22 (Interfax) - Russian car production grew 5% year-on-year in April 2019, the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) said.

Production in April was up 7.7% compared with March. Rosstat provided no absolute figures for the past month.

Production in January-April was up 4% year-on-year to 531,000 units.

Truck production in April was up only 0.1% year-on-year but rose 12% compared to March 2019. Production was down 3% year-on-year in 4M 2019 to 43,700 units.

Production of buses weighing over 5 tonnes was down 46.4% year-on-year in April and up 0.1% in April compared with March. In 4M 2019, production was also down 46.4% in annual terms to 3,800 units.

Production of buses weighing up to 5 tonnes was up 54.5% year-on-year in April and 16.7% compared with March 2019. In 4M, 5,900 units were produced, up 54.1% year-on-year.
