Duma calls for increasing quota of Vietnamese students trained to be Russian teachers

MOSCOW. May 23 (Interfax) - State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin has called for promoting the study of Russian by Vietnamese citizens.

"We are aware of the interest in increasing the number of Vietnamese students being trained in Russia to be Russian language teachers. We have mentioned this to the government and will do our best to increase this quota," Volodin said during his meeting with Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on Thursday.

"We want as many Vietnamese citizens as possible to have a chance to study Russian. Hopefully, that will promote our rapprochement and boost education and humanitarian projects," Volodin said.
