Russian Defense Ministry to open office in CAR

MOSCOW. May 24 (Interfax) - Russia and the Central African Republic (CAR) have signed an intergovernmental agreement on the establishment of an office of the Russian Defense Ministry at the country's military agency.

The relevant document was published on the official online database of legal information on Friday.

According to one of the provisions of the document, "the employees of the office and the members of their families will not participate in combat in the territory of the Central African Republic."

The office's personnel comprises five people.

The agreement was signed in Moscow on April 24, 2019. On this day, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Fomin shared a number of meetings with defense ministers of African countries , including Sudan and the Central African Republic, on the sidelines of the Moscow Conference on International Security.
