Russian agricultural output rose 1.4% in April, 1.2% in 4M - Rosstat

MOSCOW. May 24 (Interfax) - Russian agricultural output rose 1.4% year-on-year in April 2019, the Russian State Statistics Service (Rosstat) said.

Output by farms of all categories was 316.5 billion rubles.

Agricultural output rose 1.2% year-on-year in January-April to 962.3 billion rubles.

Agricultural output rose 2.3% in April 2018 and 2.4% in January-April 2018.

In April this year, production of cattle and poultry for slaughter in live weight rose 4.2% to 1.2 million tonnes, milk production rose 1.6% to 2.6 million tonnes and egg production rose 0.2% to 3.7 billion.

Production of cattle and poultry for slaughter in live weight was up 1.5% in 4M to 4.6 million tonnes, milk production rose 1.6% to 9.1 million tonnes and egg production fell, by 0.4% to 14.3 billion.

The cattle population at farms of all categories was 18.8 million at the end of April 2019, down 0.9% year-on-year, including 8 million cows, down 0.3%. Farms had 24.7 million hogs, up 2.7% and 24.5 million sheep and goats, down 4.3%.

Household farms had 41.8% of the cattle, 11.2% of the hogs and 45.9% of the sheep and goats at end-April, compared to 42%, 12.6% and 45.7%, respectively, a year previously.
