U.S. intelligence chief's statement about Russia's alleged secret nuclear tests irresponsible - Shamanov

MOSCOW. May 29 (Interfax) - The statement of the director of the United States Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) about Russia's alleged secret nuclear tests reveals the U.S. military's declining professionalism, head of the State Duma Defense Committee Vladimir Shamanov told Interfax.

"He just could not have made a more irresponsible statement. Nuclear tests cannot be carried out secretly with equipment, which is controlling these processes today," Shamanov said on Wednesday.

The Wall Street Journal newspaper has earlier quoted some fragments from Director of the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency Robert Ashley's speech at the Hudson Institute in Washington DC on Wednesday that Russia is allegedly conducting secret nuclear weapon tests, thus violating the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT).

"These kinds of statements reveal that the professionalism of the military is systemically falling in America," Shamanov said.

"These words of the U.S. intelligence chief indicate that he is an occasional person in this profession and he is in the wrong job," the chairman of the State Duma Defense Committee said.
