Russia should set up special regimes for AI investment - Putin
MOSCOW. May 30 (Interfax) - Russia should create special conditions for investment in artificial intelligence and ensure the protection of intellectual property, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a conference on developing AI technology in Moscow on Thursday.
"It is essential that we adjust our legislation to a new technological reality. A flexible and adequate legal base should be developed as quickly and with as high a quality as possible in order to work out and use applied solutions based on artificial intelligence, as should special regimes for private investment in creating solutions," Putin said. "Reliable protection of intellectual property and legal conditions for registering patents in Russia's national jurisdiction should also certainly be guaranteed," he said.
Legislative and technological barriers should be removed so that Russia might take leading positions in the world in terms of its developments in machine learning and AI, Putin said.
The security of the state and society, as well as the peoples' rights, should also be ensured.
"We have something to work on here, as well," Putin said.
