Most Russians approve of President Putin's job performance, say Russia heading in right direction - poll
MOSCOW. June 2 (Interfax) - Two-thirds (66%) of Russian citizens recently interviewed by the Levada-Center approve of Vladimir Putin's work as president, while 32% disapprove of it, according to the findings of a Levada-Center survey seen by Interfax.
According to the center's data, since 2000 Putin enjoyed the highest job approval rating of 81% in May 2017, and his job approval rating was at its lowest point of 64% in January and February 2019.
Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev is viewed favorably by 33% of respondents, while 65% of those polled are discontent with his job performance. Medvedev is trusted by 7.6% and mistrusted by 23.4% of respondents. The overall government performance has an approval rating of 42%, whilst 56% disapproved.
Thirty-eight percent of respondents said they approve of the State Duma's performance, and 59% of those polled said they disapprove of it.
Forty-nine percent of respondents said that the country is moving in the right direction, while another 40% took the opposite view.
The survey of a representative sample of the Russian population was conducted among 1,600 respondents aged 18 and over in 137 localities in 50 Russian regions from May 24 to 29.
