Russia to decide on possible attendance of PACE session by mid-June - Matviyenko

PONIZOVKA (Crimea). June 5 (Interfax) - Russia will decide on its possible participation in the summer session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) by the middle of June, according to Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko.

"Conditions have been created, not as fully as we would like to, and it will probably take some time, but still conditions have generally been created to prevent any restrictions and discrimination against any national parliamentary delegation from happening in the future. So we can thoroughly consider every resolution and prepare to make a final decision. In my opinion, the Russian Federation will make this decision before the middle of June," Matviyenko told the press in Ponizovka (Yalta) on Wednesday.

Earlier this week, the Committee on Rules of Procedure of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe adopted a resolution suggesting that Russia be invited to the Assembly session and urging Moscow to provide relevant documents.

The Assembly will discuss the draft resolution at its plenary session in Strasbourg on June 24.
