Matviyenko shares Guterres' warnings against new Cold War

ST. PETESRBURG. June 6 (Interfax) - Federation Council speaker Valentina Matviyenko has backed calls by UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres to prevent another Cold War.

During a meeting with Guterres on Thursday, Matviyenko said that she had familiarized herself with his speech at the St. Petersburg international economic forum and concurs with its main theme.

"I fully share the core idea of your speech. You urged the heads of state to be wise and prevent a new Cold War. This is the main issue that worries people, whatever country they live in: that there should be no war," she said.
