Russian gas exports to Hungary surge 60% in 2019
MOSCOW. June 7 (Interfax) - Hungary has purchased 2 billion cubic meters of gas from Gazprom in addition to contracted volumes for delivery in 2019, the Russian gas giant said following a meeting between its CEO Alexei Miller and Hungarian Foreign Affairs and Trade Minister Peter Szijjarto at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum on Thursday.
Gas supplies were the main subject of the meeting, and it was noted that Gazprom exported 4.3 bcm of gas to Hungary in the period from January 1 to June 5, 2019, 57.5% more than in the same period of 2018, the company said.
Miller and Szijjarto also discussed the development of Hungary's gas transport system.
"The Hungarian party expressed its intention to make sure that the gas that is planned to be supplied to Europe via the transit string of the TurkStream gas pipeline can be received by Hungary in the shortest possible time," Gazprom said.
Gazprom's gas exports to Hungary grew by 9.3% to 7.6 bcm of in 2018 from 7 bcm in 2017.
