Golunov case to prompt big inquiry into law enforcement bodies - Pavel Gusev

MOSCOW. June 11 (Interfax) - Civil society has played an important role in dropping drug dealing charges against journalist Ivan Golunov, Moscow Union of Journalists Chairman and head of the Russian presidential Human Rights Council's commission on the rights of journalists Pavel Gusev said, predicting a big probe into the activities of Russian law enforcement and security agencies.

"The unity of journalists and the maturity of civil society have stopped this travesty of justice by some security officers, who have, regrettably, started something incomprehensible and God knows what for," Gusev told Interfax on Tuesday.

"I believe it will lead to a big inquiry into law enforcement and security agencies, including those who staged this provocation," Gusev said.
