Ex-prisoner shoots 4 people dead in west Azerbaijan, turns himself in, Baku says

BAKU. June 17 (Interfax) - A former prisoner who went on a shooting spree in Azerbaijan's Agstafa District has voluntarily surrendered himself to local police, the Prosecutor General's Office and the Interior Ministry said in a joint statement on Monday.

Four people, including a mother with two children, were killed and another four injured in the shooting.

"The shooting occurred at a farmers market in the village of Beyuk Kesik, Agstafa District at 8 a.m. local time on Monday. A preliminary investigation showed that this grave crime was committed by Elnur Suleimanov from Sadykhly village in the same district as an act of personal revenge," the statement said.

The gunman surrendered himself and the weapon voluntarily at the Agstafa District Police Department, the statement said.
