Merkel says didn't discuss broadening of Russia sanctions with Zelensky

BERLIN. June 18 (Interfax) - German Chancellor Angela Merkel has said she did not discuss the possible broadening of the sanctions on Russia with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at their talks on Tuesday.

"We talked not about broadening the sanctions but about extending them," Merkel told journalists.

The parties agreed that "the sanctions won't be lifted until there is some progress [in the implementation of the Minsk Agreements]," she said.

Zelensky arrived in Berlin on an official visit on Tuesday. This was his first meeting with Merkel.
