U.S. unleashes full-scale information war against Russia - Kartapolov
MOSCOW. June 20 (Interfax) - The United States has started a full-scale information war against Russia, Deputy Defense Minister Andrei Kartapolov said.
"The Russian Federation definitely remains the main target of the U.S. and its allies. A full-scale information war has been unleashed precisely against us," Kartapolov said at a roundtable in the State Duma.
"With the assistance of modern mass media and other forms of work our partners seek to reformat individual, group and mass conscience of Russian citizens and the CSTO member states in the fashion needed by them," he added.
The incapability of the CSTO member states to protect their national spiritual values will lead to "eroding state institutions, including the armed forces and will question the historical perspective of any society," the deputy defense minister said.
In countering this kind of phenomena, the CSTO states need to pursue a well-orchestrated information policy, Kartapolov said.
"The successful resolution of the tasks of information impact and countering the information aggression is, in our opinion, the necessary condition for CSTO's further development as an organization, which can pursue the efficient policy to build up regional security in general," the deputy defense minister said.
