Russian Kalibr-armed frigate visits Havana

MOSCOW. June 24 (Interfax) - The Russian frigate Admiral Gorshkov armed with Kalibr cruise missiles has paid a working visit to Cuba, the Russian Navy's Northern Fleet said.

"A group of Northern Fleet ships and support vessels led by the Admiral Gorshkov frigate has entered the Cuban capital, the port of Havana. The visit is until June 26," the press service said.

The frigate will host aboard the Russian Ambassador to Cuba, Andrei Guskov, and representatives from the Cuban military command.

The group departed Severomorsk for the remote journey on February 26 and has since sailed about 28,000 nautical miles.

In the process the Russian sailors visited the ports of Djibouti and Colombo, the Chinese port of Qingdao, to join the festivities marking the 70th anniversary of the Chinese Navy. The Northern Fleet sailors spent May holidays in Vladivostok, then crossed the Pacific Ocean and the equator, entering the Ecuadorian port of Puerto Bolivar. Last week the surface group crossed the Panama Canal into the Caribbean Sea.
