Russia, Guinea-Bissau agree on military cooperation

KUBINKA, Moscow region. June 25 (Interfax) - The defense ministries of Russia and Guinea-Bissau signed an interagency agreement on military cooperation on Tuesday.

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and Bissau-Guinean National Defense Minister Eduardo Costa Sanha signed the document at the Army 2019 international military-technical forum in Kubinka outside Moscow, which is to last from June 25 to 30, 2019.

The Bissau-Guinean defense minister told journalists the agreement particularly stipulates interaction in training military personnel.

He said the resumption of bilateral military cooperation between his country and Russia was a pressing need.

"Our presence here is consistent with the spirit of cooperation between friendly countries. And the essence of the agreement that we have just signed is the need to resume our military cooperation," he said.
