PACE committee recommends Russia's credentials be ratified
STRASBOURG. June 26 (Interfax) - The Monitoring Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) announced on Wednesday that it recommended that the Russian delegation's credentials be ratified, as this should help continue political dialogue on relevant matters with Russia.
"The committee proposes that the credentials of the Russian Federation be ratified," the committee said in a statement on Wednesday.
The committee members regretted "the lack of cooperation by the Russian Federation" on matters related to democracy, the rule of law and human rights.
"At the same time, the committee stresses that the assembly has always been committed to political dialogue as a means of reaching compromise and lasting solutions," the committee said in explaining its decision.
