Substation repair effort near Donetsk called off after workers come under fire - JCCC
DONETSK. June 26 (Interfax) - A maintenance team which was repairing a substation in the village of Krasny Partizan near Donetsk was removed after a Ukrainian shell attack, the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) representative in the Joint Center for Control and Coordination (JCCC) told journalists.
"Today Ukraine's armed forces attempted to disrupt the work of restoring and servicing the substation in Krasny Partizan. Despite the additional safety assurances provided earlier by the Ukrainian side in the JCCC, the Armed Forces of Ukraine deliberately targeted the maintenance workers and the vital piece of infrastructure, forcing a halt in the repair and restoration work," the representative said.
At the moment, shelling with anti-aircraft launchers using incendiary ammunition continues, farmlands in close proximity to the site caught fire, he said.
"The repair brigade and equipment were evacuated," the DPR representative said.
