Russian airlines boosted passenger traffic 14% in May, seat occupancy rose 0.7 pp
MOSCOW. July 1 (Interfax) - Russian airlines boosted their passenger traffic 13.9% year-on-year in May, to 10.8 million people, and seat occupancy rose 0.7 pp, according to Rosaviatsia.
The preliminary data the agency published at the beginning of June indicated growth of 11.5% (to 10.5 million passengers).
Domestic services increased 6.7% (to 5.9 million passengers), while international services grew 23.9% (4.9 million). Services between Russia and countries outside the CIS increased 28.9% (4.37 million), while those between Russia and CIS countries fell 5.3% (551,600).
Passenger distance rose 15.4% to 26.1 billion passenger-km. Seat occupancy rose 0.7 pp to 80.3%.
Passenger services in 5M totaled 44.9 million (+12.3%) and passenger distance 114.4 billion passenger-km (+14.1%). Seat occupancy grew 0.2 pp to 80.6%.
Passenger traffic was up 11.3% to 14.5 million for Aeroflot , 13.9% to 4.6 million for Siberia Airlines (S7 Group), 6.9% to 3.7 million for the Aeroflot Group's Rossiya airline, 45.1% to 3.7 million for Pobeda, and 9.1% to 3.3 million for Ural Airlines .
