Flash flood in Irkutsk region kills 14, 13 go missing - Emergency Situations Ministry
IRKUTSK. July 2 (Interfax) - Officers of the Emergency Situations Ministry and the Interior Ministry have found 14 people killed by the flash flood in the Irkutsk region, and 13 people have gone missing, Andrei Shutov, the spokesman for the regional branch of the Emergency Situations Ministry, told Interfax.
"Fourteen bodies had been found as of 8 p.m. on Monday, including four in the Nizhneudinsk district, nine in the Tulun district, and one in the Taishet district. Six victims drowned, and one died at the hospital due to hypothermia," Shutov said.
None of the victims is underage. Thirteen bodies have been identified.
"Thirteen people, including one child, are missing. Ten are missing in the Tulun district, and three in the Nizhneudinsk district," Shutov said.
It was reported earlier with reference to a source that 16 people were dead, and nine, including a child, were missing.
