LPR says downed Ukrainian drone

LUHANSK. July 4 (Interfax) - Militia of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) has shot down a drone of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the Luhansk Information Center said, citing press officer of the LPR People's Militia Ivan Filiponenko.

"Our Slavyanoserbsk-based troops prevented an enemy attempt at using a drone yesterday. The enemy drone, a quadcopter, was destroyed by coordinated actions of the personnel near the populated area of Sokolniki," the statement said.

The drone belonged to the 14th brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which is under the command of Col. Serhiy Voichenko, and was carrying out reconnaissance near Sokolniki. Specialists are currently studying the photos and videos it took.

Filiponenko earlier said a drone belonging to the OSCE special mission had been shot down near the populated area Zolote on the orders of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' 54th brigade commander Maistrechenko on June 29.
