Pope hails Russia's efforts to protect Christian holy places in Syria - Peskov
MOSCOW. July 5 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin and Pope Francis discussed Christian holy places in Syria and Russia's contribution to their preservation during their meeting in the Vatican, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.
"They discussed Syria. They discussed preservation of Christian holy places in Syria and Russia's efforts to preserve and protect these holy places were praised," Peskov told reporters.
The meeting additionally addressed other aspects linked to Syria, he said.
