Russia looking forward to China's NPC Standing Committee chairman's visit

MOSCOW. July 24 (Interfax) - Chinese Ambassador to Russia Li Hui said at a meeting with Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko that China wants to harmonize Beijing's and Moscow's stances, the press service of the upper house of parliament said.

"He pledged that the Chinese side is ready to further coordinate its positions with Russia," the Federation Council said in a statement.

Matviyenko met with Li on Wednesday in connection with the end of his term as ambassador to Russia.

The last ten years have been largely fruitful in the history of Russian-Chinese cooperation, the Federation Council speaker said.

"The Russian and Chinese leaders determined the climate of bilateral interstate relations, which reached the level of strategic cooperation and comprehensive partnership," Matviyenko said.

The cooperation between Russia and China can set an example of interstate relations, "which are based on trust, mutual understanding, respect and taking national interests into account," she said.

Russian-Chinese partnership is a substantial factor of international policy, which has a significant influence on the resolution of pressing global problems, Matviyenko said.

Russia is waiting for the visit of the chairman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress (NPC), she said.

Li thanked Matviyenko for praising Russian-Chinese interaction and the cooperation between the Federation Council and China's NPC.
