Problem of import substitution in defense area still unresolved - Russian prosecutor general
MOSCOW. July 30 (Interfax) - Budget-funded procurement of foreign-made equipment in the defense area still remains a problem, Russian Prosecutor General Yury Chaika said.
"Import substitution in the defense sphere still remains a problem. Instances of non-compliance with a ban on the budget-funded procurement of foreign-made equipment in situations where similar equipment is produced in Russia continue to be exposed," Chaika said at a meeting of the board of the Russian Prosecutor General's Office on Tuesday.
Furthermore, the way the rights of people remanded in custody or convicted are observed in Russia does not yet fully meet the requirements of national legislation and international standards, he said.
"Instances when illegal methods of influence are used in relation to them are not rare," he added.
