Nebenzya calls for not hampering Russia's, Turkey's efforts toward Syria de-escalation at UN SC session

NEW YORK (the United Nations). July 30 (Interfax) - Russia wants to continue its efforts with Turkey to de-escalate the crisis in Syria as part of the Sochi memorandum, Russian Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzya said on Tuesday.

"We will continue to work jointly with Turkey within the framework of the Sochi memorandum dated September 17, 2018. We are calling for not hampering our efforts by providing the political cover to terrorists and their provocations," Nebenzya said at a UN Security Council session.

The memorandum on stabilization of the situation in the Idlib de-escalation zone was signed by Turkey and Russia in Sochi on September 17, 2018.
