Ukraine's official delegation won't participate in World Boxing Championships in Yekaterinburg

KYIV. Aug 12 (Interfax) - The Boxing Federation of Ukraine will not send its official delegation to the 2019 AIBA World Boxing Championships in Russia's Yekaterinburg.

"The Boxing Federation of Ukraine is not planning to send its official delegation to World Boxing Championships," Oleksandr Podavalenko, the federation's spokesperson, told Interfax on Monday.

At the same time, if some athletes wish to attend this event at their own expense, they have the right to do so, he said.

"The members of the national team of Ukraine who participated in the latest European Games, the European Boxing Championships in Kharkiv, those guys, who are ranked first or second in the Ukrainian national team, definitely won't participate [in the tournament] in Russia," Podavalenko said, answering a question as to whether he knows that some athletes are planning to participate in this competition.

The 2019 AIBA World Boxing Championships will take place in Yekaterinburg on September 7-21.
