Zelensky grants Ukrainian citizenship to 11 foreigners who fought in Donbas

KYIV. Aug 23 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has signed a decree to grant citizenship to those who took part in the armed conflict in Donbas.

"All persons who were granted citizenship under this decree had taken direct part in the defense of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity in the east of our state," the Ukrainian presidential press service said on Friday.

These people included Timerkhan Munayev, son of Isa Munayev, the commander of the Dzhokhar Dudaev battalion killed near Debaltseve in February 2015.
