Roskomnadzor head accuses Google, Facebook of intentional attempt to influence Russian elections' outcome

MOSCOW. Sept 10 (Interfax) - Google and Facebook have intentionally tried to influence the outcome of Russian elections held on September 8, Roskomnadzor head Alexander Zharov said on Channel One on Monday.

"A year ago, shortly before the election 2018, we had a detailed discussion of the need to comply with the Russian law, which explicitly prohibits political ads during the day of electoral silence, with Google and Facebook," Zharov said.

"Besides, Yandex and Google search engines provided completely different search results for same enquiries, such as Elections 2019, Who Should I Vote for, etc., on the day of election. This is why we say that Google and Facebook intentionally tried to influence the outcome of the September 8 election," he said.
