Yevgeny Ivanov replaces Grigory Karasin as State Secretary, Deputy Foreign Minister
MOSCOW. Sept 10 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree appointing Yevgeny Ivanov as State Secretary/Deputy Foreign Minister, having relieved him of his previous responsibilities.
Another decree dismisses Ivanov's predecessor Grigory Karasin.
Both decrees were published on the legal information website.
Ivanov's previous job was as Deputy Foreign Minister in charge of consular affairs (from 2017). In his new capacity, Ivanov will act primarily as State Secretary.
Karasin, who was in charge of CIS affairs and post-Soviet states, will be replaced "by another deputy minister," a source said. Earlier, media reported that on completing his diplomatic service, Karasin could move to work in the Federation Council as a senator for the Sakhalin region.
