Russia always sees Armenia as its ally, strategic partner - ambassador
YEREVAN. Sept 11 (Interfax) - Moscow's position on issues relating to Armenian-Russian relations has not changed and Russia sees Armenia as its ally and partner, Russian Ambassador to Yerevan Sergei Kopyrkin said on Wednesday.
"The message to the new administration of Armenia is clear: we are strategic allies and partners, brotherly peoples and countries. Russia's position on this matter has not changed. As far as I understand, it corresponds to the position of the Armenian administration," Kopyrkin told reporters on Wednesday.
The Russian diplomat disagrees with the statements that there are some undertones in the fact that some former high-ranking Armenian officials are hiding from the investigators in Russia.
"Tell me, where do you see such undertone? I don't see it. If a person is in Russia, it doesn't mean he has received political asylum. I don't see any undertone or underlying message," the Russian ambassador said.
