OSCE SMM in Ukraine comprises 740 int'l observers from 43 countries, including 35 Russians
KYIV. Sept 12 (Interfax) - The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe's Special Monitoring Mission (OSCE SMM) in Ukraine currently consists of members from 43 countries, mostly from the United Kingdom, the United States, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
"At present, there are 740 international observers working in the OSCE SMM. The mission's employees are sent by 43 OSCE members, including 53 from the UK, 52 from the U.S., and 48 from BiH. The Russian Federation has sent in 35 observers," the SMM said in response to a question from Interfax.
Several media outlets said earlier that the SMM had 35 Russians and no Ukrainians, which could create a bias in SMM reporting.
The SMM employs 436 Ukrainians as advisors, specialists, and auxiliary personnel, the press service said.
