Russia's Patrushev to visit Japan on Sept 16-17

MOSCOW. Sept 13 (Interfax) - Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev is going to visit Japan for security consultations, Russian Security Council spokesman Yevgeny Anoshin told reporters on Friday.

"Patrushev will pay a working trip to Tokyo on September 16-17 to hold Russian-Japanese consultations on security," he said.

The Japanese TV channel NHK said earlier today that the new head of Japan's National Security Council Secretariat, Shigeru Kitamura, may hold his first meeting with Patrushev next week.

According to NHK, Patrushev and Kitamura will discuss security at their meeting, including the planned deployment of the U.S. Aegis Ashore missile interceptor system in Japan.
