Russian power generation up 1.1% in 8M - Rosstat

MOSCOW. Sept 16 (Interfax) - Russia generated 730 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity in January-August 2019, up 1.1% year-on-year, the State Statistics Service (Rosstat) said.

Thermal power plants accounted for the bulk of generation, producing 467 billion kWh, up 2.3% year-on-year, nuclear plants produced 137 billion kWh, up 2.3% also, and hydropower plants produced 125 billion kWh, down 4.6%.

Russia generated 784 million Gcal of heat in 8M 2019, 4% less year-on-year. Boiler plants produced 361 million Gcal, down 3.9%, thermal plants - 361 million Gcal, down 4.7%, and industrial recovery units - 60 million Gcal, up 0.5%.
