Almost 200,000 repressed people were justifiably convicted in USSR - military prosecutors
MOSCOW. Sept 27 (Interfax) - Since 1991, military prosecutors have verified almost 300,000 criminal cases opened in the period of political repression in the USSR.
"In the period between October 1991 and today, military prosecutors have verified over 270,000 criminal cases against 300,000 people under the Russian law on the rehabilitation of victims of political repression," the Main Military Prosecutors' Office told Interfax on Friday.
"The convictions of 180,000 of them have been recognized as merited," the prosecutors said.
