Over third of all crimes in Russia perpetrated under influence of alcohol - Prosecutor General's Office
MOSCOW. Sept 27 (Interfax) - Over half of all crimes were committed by repeat offenders, and a third of all crimes were perpetrated under the influence of alcohol in Russia this year, a spokesman for the Russian Prosecutor General's Office told Interfax.
"A crime analysis for January-August 2019 indicates that repeat offenders committed over half of all crimes (415,202 offenses)," the spokesman said.
A third of all crimes were committed by persons intoxicated by alcohol, he said, adding that the number of such crimes was down 8.5% year-on-year. Meanwhile, "foreign citizens and stateless persons perpetrated 24,092 crimes, or 11% less than last year," the spokesman said.
