Diaz-Canel hopes for meeting with Putin during working visit to Russia in late Oct

HAVANA. Oct 3 (Interfax) - Cuba confirms its invitation to Russian President Vladimir Putin to visit Havana when his schedule makes this possible, Cuban President of the Council of State and Ministers Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez told Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, opening Russian-Cuban talks in the expanded format.

"We confirm our invitation made to him in November 2018 to visit Cuba, when his schedule makes it possible," Diaz-Canel said.

"It will be possible to hold a meeting during my working visit to Russia at the end of this month," he said.

Diaz-Canel asked for his thanks to be passed on to Putin for an invitation to attend the celebratory events on the occasion of Victory Day in May 2020. "We will be very glad to attend these celebratory events," he said.
