Russia will see if some state decides to deploy weapons in space - Defense Ministry

MOSCOW. Oct 5 (Interfax) - Russia is not deploying weapons in space but will see if others decide to do so, Maj. Gen. Anatoly Nestechuk, chief of staff at the 15th special army of Aerospace Troops, said.

"We strictly adhere to this concept," Nestechuk told the Ekho Moskvy radio, meaning Moscow's commitment to not deploying space weapons.

The Main Space Intelligence Center is monitoring the situation, especially since the United States' decision to create its own space troops, he said.

"We see everything that is happening in space in all directions and on every level. It may be too soon to say this so loudly, but our probable adversaries, our partners should be certain about one thing: this work is under our control," Nestechuk said.
