KAMAZ, Weichai JV to begin producing diesel engines in Q1 2020, natural-gas engines in Q3

INNOPOLIS. Oct 15 (Interfax) - KAMAZ Weichai, a joint venture of KAMAZ and Weichai Power (China), is planning to begin producing diesel engines in Q1 2020 and natural-gas engines in Q3, the head of LLC KAMAZ Industrial Components, Pavel Kanichev, said at a meeting on cooperation between Gazprom and companies in Tatarstan on Tuesday.

Equipment is now being purchased. A trial assembly and engine test will be carried out by the end of Q1. Relevant licenses and certificates must be received.

"The business plan envisages the production of 56 engines next year. In two years, we're planning to reach production capacity of 800 engines," Kanichev said.

The mass production of diesel engines with power outputs of 500 kW to 1.6 MW and gas engines with power of up to 1 MW is planned to begin in the second half of the year, he said.
