Chukotka's gold, silver output falls 1.7% in 9M

ANADYR. Oct 16 (Interfax) - Russia's Chukotka Autonomous District reduced gold production 1.7% year-on-year in January-September 2019 to 18.74 tonnes, the press office of the region's governor and government said.

Silver production also fell 1.7%, to 85.15 tonnes.

The Kinross Gold group's Chukotka Mining and Geological Company produced 8.3 tonnes of gold and 72.3 tonnes of silver at the Kupol mine, respectively 13.7% more and 1.7% more than in 9M 2018.

Four other enterprises mined hardrock gold in Chukotka: Severnoye Zoloto, Rudnik Karalveem, Rudnik Valunisty and Mayskoye Gold Company.

Another 14 enterprises mined alluvial gold, production of which came to 2.2 tonnes in September.
