Moscow grateful to Belgrade for backing TurkStream - Medvedev

BELGRADE. Oct 19 (Interfax) - Russia is grateful to Serbia for supporting the TurkStream natural gas pipeline project; Belgrade is implementing all relevant agreements, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said.

"We are grateful to members of the National Assembly, i.e. to you, for having supported this project," Medvedev told the Serbian parliament on Saturday.

The project is of particular importance to Serbia's economic development, he said.

"Your country is strictly honoring its obligations, as was confirmed by all of my colleagues who are saying that in this sense everything is absolutely alright," Medvedev said.

It is hoped the construction will be completed by early 2020, he said.

"This project is beneficial for the whole of Europe," Medvedev said.
