Argentina's Grossi to take office as IAEA director general after Dec 2 - Russian envoy
MOSCOW. Oct 30 (Interfax) - Argentina's Rafael Grossi will take office as director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) after his election is confirmed at a special session of the IAEA General Conference, Russian Permanent Representative to International Organizations in Vienna Mikhail Ulyanov said on Wednesday.
"However, final procedures need to be implemented. To this end the Board today held a meeting for official appointment of Amb. R. Grossi. Next step - approval by IAEA General Conference on 2 December at its special session. After that the new DG will immediately assume his duties," Ulyanov said on Twitter.
It was announced on Tuesday that Grossi is to be the next IAEA director general.
