Protest against creation of land market in Ukraine taking place in front of parliament building in Kyiv
KYIV. Oct 30 (Interfax) - The All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council is holding a protest in front of the parliament building on Wednesday to prevent the inclusion in the agenda of two bills envisaging the creation of a land market in the country.
Several hundred people have gathered on Constitution Square, an Interfax correspondent reported.
After the protest, the protesters intend to head to the president's office to demand that he intervene in this situation.
The protesters say the creation of a land market will lead to the purchase of farmland by oligarchs and large land owners and will jeopardize the very existence of the state.
This is one of three protests against the land market scheduled to be held near the parliament building on Wednesday. The Association of Animal Breeders of Ukraine and the all-Ukrainian association Svoboda will also hold rallies.
