Germany sees disengagement in Donbas as step toward implementation of Minsk Agreements - govt spokesperson
BERLIN. Oct 30 (Interfax) - Berlin welcomes the disengagement measures in eastern Ukraine, German government spokesperson Steffen Seibert said.
"We welcome the disengagement measures that were started yesterday. This is a further step toward the implementation of the Minsk Agreements," Seibert said in reply to a question from Interfax in Berlin on Wednesday.
The fact that the disengagement process has become possible inspires some hope, he said.
"This is a result of active negotiations at the level of advisors between Ukraine, Russia, France, and Germany," Seibert said.
"And this shows that progress is possible," he said.
The four countries are engaged in the so-called Normandy-format talks on a settlement in Ukraine.
