Medvedev arrives in Tashkent to take part in SCO Heads of Government Council session

MOSCOW. Nov 1 (Interfax) - Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has arrived in Tashkent on Friday to take part in a session of the Heads of Government Council of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

The prime minister's plane arrived at the Islom Karimov Tashkent International Airport on Friday afternoon.

The guard of honor participated in the official welcome ceremony. Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov met Medvedev as he had stepped off the plane. Uzbek First Deputy Foreign Minister Ilhomjon Nematov and Tashkent hokim (mayor) Jahongir Artykhodzhaev also represented the Uzbek side at the welcoming ceremony.

Bilateral meetings are on the prime minister's program for Friday. He is to meet with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and hold separate talks with Afghanistan's Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah and Premier of the Chinese State Council Li Keqiang.

The session of the SCO Heads of Government Council will take place on Saturday, November 2.

A wide range of issues of commercial and economic and humanitarian cooperation as part of the organization is on the agenda.
