Finland to allocate 600,000 euro for Donbas demining
KYIV. Nov 2 (Interfax) - A Finnish delegation led by Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto has visited the disengagement site N1 in Stanytsia Luhanska, the Joint Forces' Operation (JFO) stated.
"The purpose of the visit was to demonstrate support for Ukraine and to receive the latest information regarding security developments," the statement reads.
Haavisto's working visit to Ukraine on October 31 - November 1 included traveling to the dividing line in Donbas.
He met his counterpart Vadym Prystaiko, experts who advise Ukraine on reforms, and representatives from the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe's Special Monitoring Mission of in Ukraine.
Helsinki is preparing an additional aid package concerning the demining of Donbas, the minister said.
"Eastern Ukraine is one of the world's most landmine-contaminated conflict zones. We are preparing an additional package of 600,000 euro for demining," Haavisto was quoted by the JFO press office as saying.
