Russian embassy contacts Moldovan law enforcers in light of vandalized war heroes' monuments
MOSCOW. Nov 8 (Interfax) - The Russian Embassy in Moldova has contacted the country's law enforcement agencies in light of the desecration of the monument to Hero of the Soviet Union Georgy Cherniyenko, the press service for the diplomatic mission said on Facebook.
"The latest barbaric act was the desecration of the monument to Hero of the Soviet Union, anti-fascist warrior Georgy Cherniyenko. The broken granite plaque was found in the central lane of the Eternity Memorial Complex in Chisinau. The embassy requested that the law enforcement agencies conduct a thorough investigation and punish those responsible," the press service said.
Shortly before, unknown individuals vandalized the monument to a T-34 tank in the village of Leuseni.
The Russian diplomatic mission is monitoring the situation closely, the press service said.
