Poroshenko's associate demands Zelensky clarify whom he blames for war in Donbas
KYIV. Nov 11 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky should make it clear whether he directed his advisor Andriy Yermak to allege that the former Ukrainian leadership is partly to blame for the war in Donbas, Iryna Herashchenko, a co-chair of the European Solidarity parliamentary faction, said on Monday.
"U.S. Charge d'Affaires a.i. William Taylor's testimony, which he gave under oath at the U.S. Congress, was made public last week. And this testimony includes shocking information that the new Ukrainian administration in fact puts the blame for the war against Ukraine on Ukraine, not on Russia. On [former Ukrainian President Petro] Poroshenko, and not on [Russian President Vladimir] Putin. Obviously, Russian media were happy to pick up these remarks, as they perfectly fit the Russian propaganda narrative on the civil war in Ukraine," Herashchenko said.
"The public should know President Zelensky's position and hear from him whether he issued such directives to his advisors," she said.
Taylor had said earlier that Yermak had directly accused Poroshenko of the war in Donbas while meeting with him and former U.S. Department of State Special Representative for Ukraine Negotiations Kurt Volker on September 14.
