Russia wishes stability to be maintained in Moldova following govt resignation - embassy
CHISINAU. Nov 13 (Interfax) - The Russian embassy to Moldova has spoken in favor of preserving stability in Moldova after the parliament forced the government to resign on Tuesday.
"The Russian embassy to the Republic of Moldova is closely following the trends in the Moldovan political process. We favor the preservation of domestic political stability in the best interests of the citizens and the rule of law in the country," the embassy said in a statement on Wednesday.
The Moldovan parliament voted for the government led by Prime Minister Maia Sandu to resign on Tuesday. The decision was supported by 63 of the 101 parliamentarians. This marks the end of the parliamentary majority set up in June by the pro-presidential Party of Socialists (PSRM) and the rightwing ACUM bloc.
