Trial in Bishkek postponed due to ex-President Atambayev's no-show
BISHKEK. Nov 15 (Interfax) - A Kyrgyz court has postponed a trial designed to look into the illegal release of crime boss Aziz Batukayev as part of a criminal case in which the country's former President Almazbek Atambayev is implicated, Atambayev's lawyer Sergei Slesarev told reporters on Friday.
"The trial has been moved to a later date due to the illness of Professor Abdukhalim Raimzhanov and because Almazbek Atambayev didn't come to court," he said.
Atambayev also refused to take part in pre-trial hearings and did not show up at court.
